Email Experience Council Releases Retail Email Subscription Benchmark Study
The Email Experience Council (eec), the email marketing arm of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), today announced the release of its third annual “Retail Email Subscription Benchmark Study.” The new study examined the opt-in practices of 120 of the top online retailers tracked via the Retail Email Blog and found that there is a clear trend toward richer subscription processes.

Direct Marketing Educational Foundation Hosts Student Career Forum
The Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) recently hosted its Annual Student Career Forum at the Ney Center in New York City, carrying on the annual tradition first initiated by The Lee Epstein Fund. The Forum is sponsored in large part by The Lee Epstein Fund, which was created as a DMEF Endowment Trust to continue the vision of its namesake to support students and their educational needs. With over 100 students from tri-state area colleges and universities in attendance, DMEF worked diligently on its mission: to attract, educate, and place top college students in the business of direct/interactive marketing.

DMA Praises FTC for Improving Accuracy of National Do Not Call Registry by Addressing List Hygiene Issues
Direct Marketing Association (DMA) president and CEO John A. Greco, Jr. today praised the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for improving the accuracy of the National Do Not Call Registry by hiring an outside contractor to remove disconnected, reassigned and abandoned phone numbers from the registry. The action, which was encouraged and prompted by the DMA, was highlighted in the FTC’s report to Congress Regarding the Accuracy of the Do Not Call Registry pursuant to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007 (DNCIA).

DMA Introduces 'Green Marketing' Professional Development Program: A Certificate in Eco-Responsible Marketing
For the first time in marketing, professionals have an opportunity to earn "green marketing" career education credentials through the DMA Certificate in Environmentally Responsible Marketing (ERM), a new program of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA). Text Messaging Most Often Recalled Mobile Marketing Technique
The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) today released the results of its first-ever quantitative research effort in the area of mobile marketing. The online survey indicated that text messaging is by far the most often cited mobile marketing method — accounting for 70 percent of consumer mobile marketing responses - compared to a 41 percent response rate to surveys and a 30 percent response rate for e-mail offers.

DMA Announces First Environmental Goal in the Area of Solid Waste Source Reduction
The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) continues to build its environmental action program. Today, the DMA Board of Directors announced its first public and measurable “green” goal toward achieving continuous environmental improvement in the US direct marketing community. This new, five-year goal seeks to improve the relevance, deliverability, and carbon footprint of direct mail through widespread marketer adoption of key list hygiene practices. Each practice is part of the DMA Board’s “Green 15” environmental performance resolution, which was passed in 2007.

Email Experience Council Declares Start of Holiday Retail Email Marketing Season
EEC, DMA's vertical working group that’s focused on the email marketing industry, announced that the holiday email marketing season for retailers has begun. Along with the announcement, the EEC released “Ring-Cha-Ching, Hear Them Ring: The Guide to Gearing Up for the Holiday Email Season,” a 15-page report that discusses retail email marketing trends and practices from the past holiday season.
